Perfect Evening

Just a glimpse of what I am up to this evening.

Just enjoying my view of the mountains, a glass of wine with a few raspberries thrown in and a glass of cucumber water! My husband is at the firehouse for the evening and the last load of laundry is in the dryer! I love this time of night.

I figured I would share another weird event from my life this week.

Really it all started 3 years ago.  I had been married only a month and was shopping in an upscale area that is all small locally owned boutiques.  It was the week of the sidewalk sale and every store was super busy.  I had been getting texts that day from my friend Josh, we grew up together and had talked on facebook about getting together when he was in town.  We picked a place to meet up for dinner and I mentioned that I was bringing my husband so they could meet. I was in the dressing room with quite a few other women when Josh called my phone.  

This is what our conversation looked like.

"This is Josh but I don't think you know exactly which Josh"

"Josh Smith right?"

"No, I meet you a while ago out at a club and saved your number"

"I'm married"

"Well are you happily married?"

"YES, I AM HAPPILY MARRIED"

All in a very small crowded dressing room. The other women were cracking up.

Yesterday I asked if anyone has also had a super weird week as well.  I feel like I have had an unusually number of weird events but I don't want to bore you with all of them at once, I may go into the others later this week.

The first one happened on Wednesday, I was laying out at the pool and felt something on leg (inner upper thigh) and hit at it.  I soon realized it was a bee that stung me after I bugged it. We left the pool asap as it continued to swell. Yesterday I developed a huge bruise and it seems to not be getting any better.  Today I called my doctor and ended up going in to get it checked out. I now have to take 5 pills a day to prevent or kill any infection.

This is only my third sting in my life but the last one occurred almost exactly one year ago.  This may have to do the reason my reaction is so much stronger than last time.

 I am using some photos I took a while ago, I may add some newer ones tomorrow.

I love white bedding!

This was a wedding present, I am planning on someday getting our wedding date and monogram put on the mat.  I am too nervous to do it myself though and I am not really sure where to start in finding someone to do it.

Our dogs bed in the corner. It is a wicker basket that is raised with a little drawer for her toys below the bed. She hangs out in there until sometime in the middle of the night when she joins us under the covers.

You will find her in our bed until about 10 even if we are both already up.  

 She loves to sleep in.

I want to share a photo taken in our room.  I love it so much because I could never get my husband to read before bed with me.  He always requested that I shut the lights off the minute we got into bed, that was before I got him hooked on reading!

Weird week?

Aside from the deaths of Farrah Fawcett and Micheal Jackson today has anyone else had really weird/bad things happen this week?

Vacation recap (lots of photos)

I promised you I would show you some of the photos from our anniversary trip.

*First Day*

Hubby with a bad hand of cards in UNO.  We love playing UNO together, one of our favorite things.  If you haven't played it in a while go pick up a deck.  We play that if you put down any card but a regular number card (skip a turn, change direction...) you get to put down another card. If get a good hand you can put down a ton of cards at once.

*Second Day*

We hiked up to a beautiful waterfall!

That evening we tried to go out for a nice dinner but we ended up going to a place that had peanut shells on the floor. We didn't get a photo together but we had some fun with the statues after dinner.

We also went to Strawberry Park natural hot springs that evening, also known as the after dark naked hot springs. I pulled this photo offline so that you could see how cool it was.

There were a ton of different pools at different temperatures. There were a few people who got naked but it was dark and steamy so you really couldn't even tell who was and who wasn't naked.

*Third Day*

We got to spend some time with my cousins who live up there.

When we first started dating I could give my husband piggyback rides because he lost so much weight in fire academy.  He has gained back (in muscle) the weight he lost and about 20 lbs more. It's a little harder now.

I was laughing so hard because I jumped on before he was ready.

After dinner we went back to my cousins house and jumped on their tramp.  My husband is amazing on the tramp since he has been on them since he could walk.

*Day Four*

My husband had never rode a horse so it was my priority to get him on one of my Aunt's horses. He had no desire to but did it for me!

That's the big highlights of our trip!

I mentioned before I left that I had picked up a book on tape for all of our driving.  My husband was not really excited about it at first but I told him that if in half an hour he wanted to switch to music he could.  We never ended up listening to any music our entire trip! We even started a new book on tape when we got home.

I made a quick trip to Target today and made a very unfortunate mistake.  I am pretty sure took off my three day old necklace (an anniversary present) and hung it on the hook in the dressing room. I was trying on a halter dress and it looked funny with the necklace.

 I returned about half an hour later and it was no where to be found.  The dressing room girl was quite rude and acted like it was no big deal and that I shouldn't be so upset.  I spoke to quite a few people including the security guy and hopefully it will show up sooner or later.

My husband has been amazing and hasn't really said anything other than "Let's get you a new one". I am so blessed to have him.

UPDATE

The security guy pulled up the surveillance tape of me in Target and it shows I didn't come into the store with my necklace on.  I am hoping that once I get our home back in order from our trip it will show up.  

Our trip

We are back from our little getaway! I need to do just a quick post so I figured I would share photos of where we stayed.

It is an amazing home but it felt a little empty with only the two of us.

Our 3rd anniversary trip

We are packing our things right now and about to go on an anniversary trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We will be celebrating our third wedding anniversary already.  I can't even believe how fast three years has flown by.

 We will be staying at the most amazing five bedroom cabin.   I have seven books and quite a few magazines packed for our 4 day trip, I can't pick just one or two to bring.  I also picked up Three Weeks With My Brother by Nicolas Spark on cd for us to listen to on our 3.5 hour drive up. It will be a hard to convince my hubby to listen but he will enjoy it though once we start. I don't think I can stand that long of him always switching the song after only a minute in.

 While we are gone we will be taking a break from facebook and blogger.

Also I got the J Crew swim suit in the mail I blogged about last week! I love it.  I ordered the D cup though and it seems a little big.  I wouldn't order that size unless you are bigger than a VS DD.  My husband also liked it (I didn't think he would) he said it looked like a vintage suit! I can't wait to wear it to the hot springs.

The Bluffs

Today a friend introduced me to a trail in our area that I had never heard of.  It was so amazing I made my husband go with me later that day to do the loop again. We didn't start the 2.7 mile loop till 7:30 and it got pretty cold and windy by the time we were done but it was amazing none the less. The views were so amazing I made sure to bring my camera to show you.

I have been wanting to share with you for a long time my favorite beauty product.

Bobbi Brown lip glosses.

I received a set of them five years ago and for about a week I was afraid to try them because they looked so dark. They are perfect though, not to sticky but still stays on for quite a while. They are the only lip product I use.  You may not think that a gloss like this could replace regular chapstick but it heals dry lips almost overnight.

 There was a while there when I wasn't using them and my husband hated how dry my lips always were.  We live in Colorado and the weather and altitude makes peoples skin super dry.  I tried to find a cheaper alternative for a long time and nothing ever came close. I like to buy the smaller pack of four when they are available (around the holidays) so that it's not the end of the world if I lose one. I even have a special little pouch in my purse that I keep them in so that I can find them fast.  I love that it has SPF 15 in it for sunny days.

Finally

Today I found something I have been searching for over a year for! We have a great event every month during the summer called the Paris Street Market and every time I look for old pieces of tin that were rescued from old buildings. Most pieces are from ceilings that use to be covered with painted tin. They have become quite popular so as the demand rises so does the price.  I was able to find this huge piece today and got the seller down to only $45!

I also found these refinished ones for $55 each. They were about half the size of the one I purchased.  

Even though I sent my husband a picture before I got home he was shocked with what I came home with.  He even commented that he saw stuff like that next to dumpsters.  I still love it though and think I got a great deal.  

We are going to place it on the wall at the foot of our bed.  I have been looking at the big open wall lately and wondering what I could put there.

I need to figure out how to hang it first and what to coat it with so that the paint will stop falling of.  I also need to figure out how to wash it off since the back is covered in dirt.  My hands were covered in dirt by the time I got to my car.

I just ordered this suit from J Crew!

 

I wouldn't normally go for a top like this but I have a bra that is the same cut and it is a great top for my DD's. (I miss my C's and being able to wear whatever I want to.)

I love the color and J Crew suits! I already own quite a few but I haven't bought any in a few years.  I also ordered the same bottom in black to replace one that I lost a while back.
