It's really Catherine Honey but they call her Honey Cate.
I also made these special orders!

Amy Butler

I came across this beautiful baby quilt one day and instantly fell in love. I however didn't love the $120 price that came with it. I figured that even though I have barely any sewing experience I could make one myself. It is basically a quilt that is sewn all as one piece with the "ugly side" exposed and fringed, the other side it a fleece with raised dots common in children's blankets.
I went to our local Jo-Ann Fabrics to find some fabric to get started. I was shocked to find that they had nothing that even remotely interested me.
I usually have a hard time leaving that store and not purchasing something.
*
A few weeks later I came across this book at out local library...
It is full of stunning sewing projects for babies all made in amazing fabrics.
Here are a few examples of her designs...
I instantly fell in love with the the bright fun fabrics and had to know where to find them for my quilt. Little did I realize that they were created the author of the book, Amy Butler. I also didn't realize I already had already seen her work two different times before I came across the book. I was already the owner of a few pieces of scrapbook paper and I had fell in love with a baby sling made out of the previous fabric.
*
I have been browsing her website all evening and after I create a quilt I would love to make a laptop cover like this...
It folds and Velcro's to protect your laptop.
Check out her website because she also has a paper line...
Isn't it all so inspiring?

Giada

I have no idea how it has already been a week since my last post.
These last summer days fly by don't they?
*
I have an observation that my Grandma made today about the beautiful Giada De Laurentiis...
How does she stay so skinny while cooking all the time? I would love to know her secrets wouldn't you? I know that not all the other food network hosts have the same luck.

The TIme Traveler's Wife

We just got back from seeing the time traveler's wife! My goal was to finish the book before I saw the movie but my husband was so excited to take me out on a date that ended with this movie I just couldn't disappoint him.
I would highly recommend seeing it! It was very well done. I think that even my husband enjoyed it! I only got 40 pages into the book but I would love to hear what any of you who have read and seen the story think.
*
There was also a trailer for a new Sarah Jessica Parker movie. I had always thought she was pretty but now I see why no men every think that she is.

New carpet

It may only be just before three here in Colorado and I may already be enjoying a glass of wine! Don't judge, I have no where to be today and a long list of things at home to do. My husband is at work and won't be home till tomorrow morning. I seem to be much more productive when he is at work and I am enjoying a glass of wine.
*
Topping today's list is cleaning all the floors, I even am feeling motivated enough to pull out the attachments and vacuum around the edges of the rooms. I am not really sure why I am taking such care since we are hoping to have new carpet installed by the end of the month.
Ladies please take note, NEVER GET WHITE OR OFF WHITE CARPET.
It may seem like a good idea but if you plan on every letting anyone actually live in your home it is never a good idea.
*
While the idea of getting new carpet is very exciting really it petrifies me. What do I do with all of my stuff when they install it? Have any of you gotten new carpet while still living in your home? What do I do?

Are we getting old?

Since most of you are in your 20's I would assume you would know who this talented and sexy man is!
Dave Matthews and his amazing band.
*
I am a huge dmb fan. I have even seen them live three times, not a lot I realize for most dave fans. His songs are classic and timeless in my book...
*
That was until I spend 24 hours this weekend with four 14 year olds.
I am in the white.
My cousin said to me that her older brother and her hate Dave Matthews Band. I figured that she hadn't really experienced them so I played on of the newest live cds for them on our super early (5 am) drive up to the trailhead. One of the other girls commented how weird the cd was. I figured they would love it once they experienced it.
Are we getting old?

Starting to think about fall

I came across this jacket and instantly loved it and knew it would be a staple piece in any wardrobe. My husband thinks it will be out of date very fast. What do you think?

My morning

Guess what I did today!
Ran my first race!
I did a recap on my other blog if you would like to hear all about it, click here.
Tomorrow I am just crazy enough to hike up another mountain with 4 of my Young Life girls!

Gucci for real this time

I picked these beauties up yesterday. They were just too good a deal to pass up.
As soon as I spotted them on the front table of Norstrom Rack I knew I was in trouble. Good thing my husband found a cute brown North Face Denali he wanted.
*
This morning my husband called me to announce that he had entered our dog Ridley in a cutest dog contest. It was so out of character for him I just had to laugh.
This is the picture he submitted, see how she is truly smiling!
It would make him so happy if you clicked here and voted. All it takes is two quick clicks!
*
Also I almost forgot, I am doing my first race tomorrow! It's just a 5K called the Iron Girl. I have just recently learned to run more than a few yards though so I am very excited to run an entire 3.1 mile race!

Clothes or food?

As I show my husband the great deals I found yesterday at J Crew I start to think about what other things I could get for the same price. The $7 white trousers are about the same price as a Chipotle burrito. The fabulous teal silk $70 skirt I got for $10 is the same price as a cheap bottle of wine. My beach themed necklace is so fun and I know it will be me more joy in the long run than a $12 meal out.
*
Would you rather have new clothes or food?
I am not talking about a nice dinner out but just an average quick meal.

Do you love Gucci this much?

We came across a guy on our hike who had this tattoo.
His friend knew my friend so we stopped to talk to them when our paths crossed. I saw the swirl of a tattoo sticking out from his shirt so I asked him about it. He pulled up his shirt and showed us a pretty scary skull tattoo.
The conversation then traveled to his GUCCI tattoo. As soon as it was brought up I just knew I had to see it. He said it started as a joke and turned into that.

Climbing Grays Peak

I am not even sure where to start telling you about climbing a fourteener this weekend. I couldn't stop admiring the amazing ever changing views so I took about 100 photos.
*
This was my first 14er so it was quite an experience!
I had always wanted to do one since I think it's part of being a Colorado girl. I finally just decided to do it and texted a friend to see if she wanted to join me the upcoming weekend.
My husband isn't too excited about hiking so he stayed home, he will be joining me though next time.
This is the start of our hike at 7 am. I had to wake up by 4:30 to get ready and get up there in time. The storms hit around 1 or 2 pm so you have to start early. When you are that far up above tree line storms roll in super fast and you don't want to be caught up there in any sort of storm.
The snow covered peak in the right of the picture is where we climbed to the top of.
My friend Tambra. She left for the Bahamas today so I haven't seen her pictures yet.
Random pile of rocks part way up.
We made it to the top!!
Shocked! The trail was unexpectedly snow cover that day. It is known as one of the easier hikes but the snow made it so much harder. Our focus changed from making it to the top to making sure your next step didn't send you sliding down the rocky mountain side.
*
Views from the top.
On our way back down. Notice how the snow is now melted.
Tambra's skinned knees. Our ankles were so tired they kept giving out on the super rocky trail.
The nice boys we seemed to keep running into let us borrow their hiking poles. They sound silly but I may need a pair for next time.
Another shot of Grays.
Finally finished
I gotta say for two first timers we did a pretty good job! I am so excited for our next time! It took us over 7 hours and I burned 3,500 calories doing it but I loved it. I was so exhausted when I got home I needed a nap asap. I am pretty much worthless today and my butt and ankles burn.
I would try another next weekend but I have my first race next Saturday!
*
One last picture to leave you with. I wish you could see how rough the road to get to the trail head was. I had been 4 wheeling before but I had never been the one driving. I made it out alive and all other SUVs behind us seemed to follow the path I took around the ruts.
A lot of even the SUVs parked at the start of the dirt road. It would have doubled our hike if we would have though.

Today

This is where I spend my day today...
Expect a recap tomorrow from by first 14er.
(A 14er is a mountain peak over 14,00o feet in altitude.)
