I need Hot Roller help

I got a set of hot rollers around the holidays and I need some help/advice on using them.
My hair is super long and dries very straight and I really want to keep it long but I am not sure how to do something other than long and straight.
I would like to use them to make spiral like curls not just curl my hair.
Can anyone please help me!

Update
Wow you girls are amazing!
I never thought I would get 11 comments with help in 5 hours. I put my hair in them tonight right after I posted and I can't wait to use them again now that I have all your little tips.
I think for me the tip that Pretty Peony left is going to be my key. She suggested to wrap the ends in a little piece of tp. I tried it when I got home and it made a world of difference as well as so much faster.
I will show you pictures soon!

When I use hot rollers to try and make spiral curls, I wrap the ends in a little toilet paper to hold layers together, then I hair spray and role and keep them in for at least 30 minutes. Then I let them out and spritz them again. I have naturally curly hair so this holds pretty well. Also, don't do too much at once. However, I think foam rollers with wet hair work the best for spiral curls. Wash your hair before bed, stick them and sleep. When you wake up, you will have a head full of curls. Good luck! You better show us the curls :)

I wish I could use hot rollers. My hair always looks good when other people do it - but I can never got the rollers to stay in!!

Me & Becky both got a "Ginalli". We love it! It gives you those movie star waves, but I haven't had time to use it lately.

They are kind of expensive, but they get as hot as a CHI iron!

Here is a girl on Youtube using it :)

The thing I have learned with hot rollers is the smaller the amount of hair you put on each roller, the more the hair will curl. This takes a little more time but I have always really liked the results. Another thing that I do (weird but it works) is put my hair up in a high ponytail and wrap a little piece of hair around each curler to where they almost look like a bun. When you let your hair down you will still have great volume at the end but tighter curls toward the bottom.

Good luck curling!

I have trouble with using hot rollers too, my hair's super straight and curls just fall right out. I'd love to see some pics when you figure out a good method

I was in show choir in high school so I'm the queen of hot rollers. This may sound gross but if your hair doesn't get too greasy after a day, it's best to use hot rollers on dirtier hair so the curls stay and hold longer. If you want spirals, make sure you put the rollers in so they're placed vertical on your head. When you take them out, guide the hair out (after atleast 30 minutes) of the curler so it stays together rather than getting frizzy. If you'd like, separate the curls little by little with your fingers (don't ever use your brush after you take the rollers out, it'll turn into a frizz-ball!) If you want more tips or help, let me know!

WHen I use them, (I have a lot of hair) I have to use two sets so I can put just a little one each one. The key is making them really tight around the roller and getting the rollers REALLY hot before you use them. I also will walk around the house close to an hour before I take them out and spray, spray, spray!!!!

Take thin strips of your hair and twist it, then wrap the twist around the hot rollers.

Hmmm...I don't use hot rollers, but I think after your post and all these great comments...I might have to try some out! My hair is short, but it could possibly still work. Take pics of how yours turns out and let us know what works best.

Can't help with the hot rollers, but I see on Preppy Nonsense's blog that we stayed at the same place on our honeymoons! I just thought that was kind of cool :)

I know! It makes me so sad that they are discontinuing that Vera pattern. My step mother-in-law works at a boutique that sells Vera so I'm having her buy up some for me :)

I just saw this post and love all the suggestions. Like you my hair is very long and straight. Since I have so much I use two sets to make sure I have enough for all of my hair. Let me know if anything worked better than another. My problem is I feel like the rollers don't get hot enough.
Great Post!

Quick question what type of hot rollers did you get? I'm needing to purchase some new ones and have really long hair and thought you could make a good recommendation.

thanks
