Skirts and Dresses

The weather here in Denver has been amazing the past 3 days!
To celebrate I pulled out all of my summer dresses and skirts! I can't tell you what a boost my wardrobe gets when the weather gets nice.
*
I want to know from all of you, what do you wear with your cotton skirts?
Most are knee length or a little shorter and most are white or have a print on a white background. I want something fresh to do with them this year since this will be the 5th summer I have worn some of them.
Also do you girls wear skirts like these or sun dresses to the office?
How do you make them office appropriate?

On another note, I finally heard about the job interview, a month later. Click here for more background if you don't remember. I got an e-mail yesterday saying they were going to take a break from the hiring process for now and needed talk to their accountant to make sure they can afford the position but that I was still a front runner for the job. Good news and bad all wrapped into one.

I wear the same skirts every year; I usually do a mix and match with different colored tops, jean jackets, cardigans, and sometimes try out new colors with the skirts. Oftentimes I find that I get "stuck" in a rut with assuming this skirt goes with this color shirt and don't look at other color combinations!

I hit up H&M and Forever21 for plain cotton t-shirts that are little less see through than at most stores. I often add a cardigan around the shoulders, closed toe shoes [I've never worked any place that allows open toe shoes], and some nice casual accessories.

I wear summer dresses all of the time. If they are strapless I make sure I button the cardigan so there is no chance anyone can tell.

I love wearing my skirts with button ups, white tiny tees with a cute necklace! It's tough finding things that are flattering with skirts! for sure!

I am sorry about the job interview but hey at least you are the front runner :)

I LOVE wearing cute summer dresses and skirts this time of year. Old Navy always has short sleeved cropped cardigans in every color - and I have tons of them! I wear them with my summer dresses to dress those up and sandals with heels.

With skirts, I usually wear a button up sleeveless or maybe a cute tank with one of the cardigans I mentioned.

Happy summer!!

I too am a denver girl, and I have to tell you that I have been giddy with the weather. Especially with some of the last snow storms hitting after sping started.

I tend to look for some cheaper tops to throw on with my skirts (think Forever and TJ Maxx). It always seems to help a little.

When I worked in a corporate environment I would always make sure that I wore a cardigan or light coat so that I looked put together- that always translates easy to a happy hour on the patio after work when you take the cardigan off.

Lucky girl that you still fit into clothes that are 5 years old!

I go to Old Navy and pick up a few new brightly colored shirts to wear with my cotton skirts.

Good luck with the job.. hopefully they will come around soon!

Skirts-I usually wear them with just a cotton t-shirt. I guess for work I may wear a short sleeve button down or a silky top? I dunno...
Everyone is on hiring freezes right now! It's crazy!!! I hope they think of you later when all this mess with the economy is over. I've had so many compliments on my "B" you made!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I wear short-sleeved cardis to make them work-appropriate.

I have my fingers crossed for you about the job! Hiring freezes are common right now, unfortunately.

I wear skirts and sundresses to work ALL the time. I make them office appropriate by pairing them with cardigans or tailored jackets. Our dress code is pretty lenient, but I think adding a jacket works for pretty much any office.

I'm glad you heard back about the job..we're in the same position now...just waiting. That's the worst part. At least you're in the lead! :) Good luck!
