Amy Butler

I came across this beautiful baby quilt one day and instantly fell in love. I however didn't love the $120 price that came with it. I figured that even though I have barely any sewing experience I could make one myself. It is basically a quilt that is sewn all as one piece with the "ugly side" exposed and fringed, the other side it a fleece with raised dots common in children's blankets.
I went to our local Jo-Ann Fabrics to find some fabric to get started. I was shocked to find that they had nothing that even remotely interested me.
I usually have a hard time leaving that store and not purchasing something.
*
A few weeks later I came across this book at out local library...
It is full of stunning sewing projects for babies all made in amazing fabrics.
Here are a few examples of her designs...
I instantly fell in love with the the bright fun fabrics and had to know where to find them for my quilt. Little did I realize that they were created the author of the book, Amy Butler. I also didn't realize I already had already seen her work two different times before I came across the book. I was already the owner of a few pieces of scrapbook paper and I had fell in love with a baby sling made out of the previous fabric.

I have been browsing her website all evening and after I create a quilt I would love to make a laptop cover like this...
It folds and Velcro's to protect your laptop.
Check out her website because she also has a paper line...
Isn't it all so inspiring?

I LOVE her stuff! No one is better at designing prints than her. I may have to go purchase that book myself!

What cute stuff! I have a love affair with fabric! Also, that quilt is called a rag time quilt and I made one with my mom a few years back before I went to college (I still use it for cuddling on the couch). It is very easy to make, and I know you could do it. You can probably google directions if you still want to make one, or I can tell you how we did it. Just email me at sassyengineer at gmail dot com! Maybe I should post a picture of mine :)
