I just had a thought and I wondered if I am alone in this.
How old are the people you work with?
I am a Realtor and I am a good five years younger than any other person in my office. Even then there are only one or two who are five years older than me. They assume I am in my early 30's because I am married and my life is stable. This week our front desk girl who is 32 called my husband my boyfriend since she is seven years older, still dating and happens to knows my real age.

Did I get into an older profession or are most offices like this?

Haha. the guys here like to joke about what grade I was in when they started working here. For most of them I was around 3rd grade, but for some I wasn't even born yet...

I don't work in an office...but I am by far the youngest one at my job. I would say the average is mid 40s??

You are not alone, I'm am the youngest at my job by probably 20 years (and there are only a couple in that category). Most people I work with are 50+ which makes it hard to find friends at work. I talk with my coworkers during the day and enjoy them at work, but it isn't like we are going to meet up to go shopping on the weekends or anything. Oh well!

I am the youngest at my office at the age of 24. My coworkers are 28, 30 & 42. We are a small office.

I was always the youngest where ever I worked...eventually you wont be the youngest when some new young people join the company.

Oh no do you think mid 30's is old , I work at home , but I do think real estate is often a later life career choice for many , good for you for getting into it young .

i work for a CPA who is around 56; there are 3 other ladies at the office, ages almost 57, 46ish, and almost 35 (but is the mother of 2 teens & a 1 yr old; plus, she's a grandmother already). and there is another man who is 75. i am 23. age gap much?! needless to say, i am referred to by several clients as "that little girl that works on my taxes." ugh. =)

I totally understand! I started working in my office 2 days after graduating college...I was 22 and everyone else was in their 30s or 40s. My boss took up the habit of calling me "little April", or "our little one" because I'm so much younger that her. It's a litle wierd....

I'm only 24 but have worked for my company for nearly 3 years. I still am the youngest person out of 300+ reps. There are a few that are late 20's but most are early 30's. When I started at 21, I was MUCH younger than everyone else.

You're not alone! Because I work for a University, I am closer in age to our student assistants than to my coworkers and I often get mistaken for a student when I have to go to other offices on campus.
At times, I am flattered, but mostly just annoyed!

That's funny.. I used to always be the youngest, but the real estate co kinda has the young go getter mind set, we just added a guy that is prob 45. but everyone else is 30 & below!

I'm the youngest in my office by 10 years. Most people forget that I am so young. They think late 20s. I will be 25 in a couple of months.

People at my office know my age--and I am much, much younger. I think it doesn't help that most of the time, I look 12 either! But, often, I do get treated older (which is good!) because I am married, own a home, etc.

I taught at a high school where I was not only the youngest member of the department, but would get stopped for hall passes. (I was 26) You're so not alone.
