Infertility Appointment

Today we had our first infertility appointment. I was super nervous and wondering if it was the right timing, I never figured at 26 I would need a fertility specialist but it's not happening on our own. Luckily the doctor put us at ease by saying it was good that we came in. I didn't really know what to expect but before we left they started running tests starting with testing my blood. Good thing I didn't know it was coming because needles make me panic. I have already received a phone call back telling me that with the hormones they found they knew that I had ovulated this month. This is good news and bad news, good for the obvious reasons but bad because that is the easiest and cheapest problem to fix. Now the next step is to test my husband and then to make sure my fallopian tubes work correctly.

I guess I'm what you would call a "lurker," although that makes me seem weird and I don't think I am-I'm just horrible at commenting. =) So delurking to say that I know what you're going through! I'm on the verge of turning 24 and in the middle of my first IVF cycle. It's weird being so young having to experience something that I always thought was reserved for women in their late thirty's-forty's. It stinks but it will(hopefully) be worth it all in the end. Praying for you!

It's a very difficult thing to go to, but I know quite a few people who have had to see an infertility specialist for things, most of them minor. In fact one of my best college friends called last night that they are 13 weeks pregnant after over a year of trying (and seeing a specialist since Oct). I have faith (and I know you do to!!) that you'll have a wonderful little family of your own, no matter how it happens!

I wish you the best with your infertility. I have been experiencing it for several years and had a wonderful doctor when we were stationed in Hawaii. The HSG test that checks your falopian tubes is a little painful, but hopefully they will only have to do it once and your issue will be found. OR it might be something simple that can be fixed. I pray you guys get your miracle soon and that the RE is able to determine the reason for it not happening on your own.

God Bless!

Thinking of you and sending lots of prayers your way. We are trying now as well and it's not happening. How long did you wait to go see someone?? I'm just not sure if we're "not doing it" enough or what!?!

Sending virtual hugs and prayers you way!

I think the fact that you're ovulating is great news! It may be easy to fix with clomid, but it rules out a host of other problems.

I'm not trying to get pregnant yet -- but I am doing the "charting" thing since I use FAM for birth control -- I think that I can tell that I'm ovulating -- but my luteal phase is short, meaning it would be quite hard to get pregnant. I'm going to go to a dr. in a couple of months if the short luteal phase continues. Everyone thinks I'm crazy for worrying about infertility/fertility at 26, that it will just "happen" when I want it to. But I think it's good you went into the Dr.

Good luck with your testing! I think it's great that you went b/c worrying and stress can affect your fertility anyway, so you might as well put it in the docs hands, you know?

I never comment, but my prayers are with you. We thought we were going to have trouble and were preparing for the worst. Take a deep breath and take one day at a time. From reading your blog, you will make an EXCELLENT mom!
