Planning a suprise

I'm dying to spill my secret!
My husband's 30th birthday is next week and I've planned a surprise for him!

I've booked a room at a 5 star hotel in Beaver Creek and I've secretly lined up the following day off work for him! He was so bummed to be working the next day and felt limited as to what we can do since he has to be up at 6 am for work.  Hopefully no one spills the beans about his day off.

I'm trying to figure out exactly how to present it all to him.  I plan on taking him out to breakfast when he gets home from work and having an overnight bag packed in the car. After breakfast I plan on driving "home" and driving to the mountains rather than home.  Should I spill the beans then and tell him I have a hotel booked and that he has the next day off work or just that we are going to the mountains for the day?

How sweet of you! Perhaps you should tell him that way he can truly relax!

Oh, I would wait! Plan a great day for him, make him LOVE his birthday, and then blow him away with the surprise at the end of the day!

You're just going to the mountains for the day and when you get there, hand him a drink and say, "and PS you don't have to work tomorrow!"

The surprise would be fun, but he'd be able to relax and enjoy it more knowing that he doesn't have to work the next day. I'd tell him when you get there...over lunch or something.
