Suicide Prevention

I have been a little absent lately and I have so many great comments to comment back about. I have been so busy that I don't even have a day off for over a week and a half. I have also been taking a suicide prevention class today and tomorrow that is 8-4 both days. I really enjoyed my first day today and I am so excited to go back tomorrow.

You may be asking why suicide prevention?
My husband and I volunteer at our local Young Life and I am so excited to be so much better prepared if these girls ever are going through this. We become such a part of these kids lives that I would hope they could trust and confide in us. It is so much more of a common thing these days and Colorado has alarmingly high rates. Why not be prepared and know what to say.

I'm so happy that you are both doing this! I grew up in Colorado, and lost a few friends to suicide. It's preventable, especially if they have someone to confide in. I'm so glad that you 2 will be prepared role models and friends, if need be :)

I love YoungLife! I was very involved in college! I worked at Summer Staff at Trail West, and I've been to Frontier! You're so lucky you live in Colorado where the best camps are! You guys should go work at Trail West one summer, its a family camp so it's totally different, but it's awesome!

Yay for Young Life!

I agree! I think it's great that you and your husband have taken on this important role of mentor/role model! I'm glad you're enjoying your training. We could use it around here...we've had two teenage suicides within a few weeks of each other.

What a great thing for you and your husband to do together. Lord knows that young girls especially need positive role models to look to these days (strong women, married to wonderful men, happy marriages, etc.)

I just recently stumbled across your blog and I love it!

that's so interesting. it's good to hear about things that other people do to give back.
