Today there was an I Love Lucy marathon on the Hallmark channel! I have enjoyed having it on in the background today while I clean my place. They must be playing the most loved episodes because I know quite a few of the ones I saw today were very famous, the biggest being the wine making one. The last one they showed was one where Lucy wants to do the commercial during Ricky's show for Vitameatavegamin. The producers want her to keep practicing and every time she does she takes a spoonful of it. She continues to get drunker and drunker and it is so hilarious. You will have to search for it on YouTube because it is so funny I was laughing out loud and it takes a lot to do that.

I know that everyone loves Lucy but I have a special place for her in my heart.
First of all I grew up with a mother who loves it but second watching the old episodes reminds me of my Grandmother. She was one of the sweetest people but also very innocent and child hearted. I am sad to say that it took quite a while for me to appreciate her and not think she was just a silly woman who was unfortunately my Grandma.

I finally developed a relationship with her when I was 19. We had a weekly phone date that we both loved and looked forward to. I know that she told everyone about how her granddaughter had called. Every time my mother talked to her she mentioned my calls and how much she loved them. I even got to make a couple of trips out to Indianapolis to visit her. It was on those trips that I realized how special our relationship was. I have 14 cousins on that side of my family, some of them who lived in the same town had to call for directions on how to get to her house even though it was 10 minutes from their father's office. Sadly my Grandmother developed ovarian cancer and passed away last November. It was a sad day but I know that God took one of his faithful servants up to heaven. I just wonder which one of her 3 husbands she is spending her time with up there. Only joking but I know that her and my Grandfather are together again after he passed away way too soon. She was always tell me she envied my other Grandparents for being married for so long because she was widowed 3 times.
I miss her but know I will join her someday. I love the time that we got to spend together and I know that my cousins are now realizing that they missed out.
In her 20's
I found this on my most recent trips to Indianapolis. I thought it was a joke at first but I guess it was a real ad. It is even funnier to me after I watch the vitameatavegamin clips.

What a great connection to your grandmother and a nice way to listen to the day - through laughter!
I love Lucy, too!
And loved the part about your grandmother.
And thank you so very much for my award! That is so sweet of you! It put a smile on my face.

Aww, thanks for the award! I don't know how to post that into my blog, though...haha..I still need some major help with this stuff!
I love Lucy so much! I have some of the shows on DVD and I have read biographies, and movies (The Long Long Trailer is my favorite), and books about her (and a calendar on my desk at work), and I got to see her Emmy's at a special exhibit at Universal Studios about 12 years ago! I remember my parents telling me about this show and how they thought I would like it because it was funny (and they knew it was pretty wholesome) so I was allowed to watch it by myself one night when they were out doing yardwork - I fell in love! I also love your story about your grandmother. I had similar thoughts about mine - being silly and my grandmas, but now I miss them both so much! They were great ladies!
