Facebook part II

I guess that last post wasn't super clear...
We found out that my Brother-in-law and his fiance were pregnant via a Facebook message.
They also announced that it is a boy since they are already 22 weeks along.

Fiance...wow! I know that must be hard to hear, especially over Facebook! Thinking of you!

A simple phone call would have been nice. Sorry you had to learn the exciting news over FB.

Ouch! Yeah, that's kinda sad...

Still stings...a phone call would be so much better. Trying to exude emotion over a message just doesn't work...

Hi. Can I tell you that we found out the same way? Except my BIL's (husband's twin) only knew her for 4 months and she was 42 and insisted they have a child. They moved in together and bam - pregnant. She just had the baby. She has not gotten to know any of us. It made me so angry and sad. But good things will happen to all of us and we can appreciate it more.

Always thinking of you.

I think at best it's tacky. Regardless of convenience, it is never appropriate to annouce an engagement, marriage, pregnancy, or birth to FAMILY through facebook.

If you want to tell the rest of the world that way, that's fine. But respect your family enough to pick up the phone.

I completely agree with you. Technology is a wonderful thing but not so much when it comes to these types of life-changing, exciting news.

Why wouldn't they tell their immediate family before 22 weeks? That's super weird to me. It's even odder (is that a word?) that they would chose to do this on FB!!!!! The most exciting thing ever and they don't want to call people?????? Seriously, I don't find that normal at all!
